This will be season number 3 as head coach for Mario Cristobal.

The Canes come into the Spring with high hopes.

Canes fans are getting their first look at transfer quarterback Cam Ward in a Miami uniform.

Cristobal says he’s impressed by the Freshman class that has come in so far.

Cristobal said, “They have a high care factor for football. Football is very important to them. They spend a lot of time in the building... they have that dog mentality.”

Quarterback Emory Williams was back on the field. He suffered an arm fracture in Miami’s game against Florida State last season.

On Cam Ward, Cristobal said “Leadership. A guy who can take command of the line of scrimmage. I think that’s critical... He can make plays because he understands what everyone is doing.”

Legendary Canes running back Duke Johnson has enrolled back in school at Miami. He will serve as a student assistant and will be around the team.

Cristobal said he wants competition at every position.

He said that “iron sharpens iron.”
